Industry 4.0, the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Augmented and Virtual Reality, global connectivity, and a decidedly virtual ubiquity.
We live in fast-paced times—decidedly faster than our natural capacity for adaptation and evolution—yet the technological world opens up new development opportunities for companies that possess a fitting vision of the future and the courage to embrace the challenge.
Progress certainly offers benefits to people—users who are becoming increasingly conscious of how they utilize it. One need only consider augmented or virtual reality systems that allow people to visit cities and museums without leaving home—a tremendous advantage for those living with a disability, or for those who simply cannot afford the trip right now but are considering it for the future, yet do not want to miss out on experiencing the world today.
We all hope that 2024 will be the year of ethical AI—specifically, the use of aggregated data to support private companies and public administrations in improving service quality and medium- to long-term vision through information analysis.
We need a shift in pace towards a level of digital literacy that enables everyone to view technology as an added value—while maintaining a healthy skepticism regarding easy online promises and possessing a greater awareness of the value of their own data.
And yes, I was listening to Wish You Were Here while thinking of a title for this post!
